The Enrichment Center Selects Scaled Vision to Guide Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Plan Development

Art-based day program and supported employment provider for people living with IDD will integrate DEI principles into their culture and operations in collaboration with NY-based DEI consultant

WINSTON-SALEM, NC, June 15, 2023—The Enrichment Center (TEC), a non-profit dedicated to enriching the lives of adults living with an intellectual or developmental disability (IDD), is pleased to announce
the selection of Scaled Vision as the go-to advisor for developing their comprehensive diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) plan.

TEC strives to be a community leader in supporting individuals to live healthy, fully enriched lives defined by their capabilities and desires—not by their disability diagnoses. To ensure they meet the diverse cultural needs of the individuals they serve and the needs of their employees, TEC understands the importance of building principles of DEI into their organizational culture, operations, and practices.

Working with Scaled Vision to produce a comprehensive DEI plan means TEC will be able to promote diversity and inclusion in the workplace, expand cultural awareness, enhance employee development, and build an inclusive workplace and community where all feel accepted, respected, and valued.

Led by Marlia Fontaine-Weisse, a Certified Diversity Professional (CDP) and DEI consultant out of Albany, NY, this plan will be informed by an equity-centered assessment of staff, board of directors, participants, and families to identify and address any barriers to equity that may exist across the breadth of

“We couldn’t be more pleased with the level of expertise, the emphasis on collaboration, and the passion for improving workplace experiences Marlia brings to this initiative,” said Amy Stevens, Executive Director of TEC. “She’s a former Chief Diversity Officer at a large healthcare organization that
also provides services to people with IDD, so she is uniquely positioned to support us in a way that few others can.”

Marlia Fontaine-Weisse serves as the Chief Strategist – People & Culture for Scaled Vision, where she
assists clients in making the right investments that put their people at the center of all that they do. “I’m
looking forward to working with the TEC team to unlock the right strategy that builds a culture of
accountability, transparency, and belonging.”

About the Enrichment Center

Started 40 years ago in 1983 by a group of parents who were concerned about their children transitioning to life after high school graduation, The Enrichment Center was established to cultivate the creative talents of individuals in an adult setting by providing a unique arts-based Day Program and supporting them in learning basic life skills. From this, the Gateway Gallery was established to show and sell the art created by participants, empowering them to express themselves and enabling them to earn a paycheck. All artists receive 50% of their sales and 50% is allotted back to a fund that is used to purchase their art supplies.

Although rooted in the arts, The Enrichment Center also assists individuals with exploring vocational opportunities through the Supported Employment program by providing job coaches during the training and acclimation phase. Individuals who can navigate the community more independently are supported by one-on-one personnel through the Community Supports program.

The Enrichment Center is located in a 65,000 square foot building in historic, downtown Winston-Salem, an up-and-coming area that is focused on the arts and is home to a variety of restaurants, boutiques, and nightlife. Over the next year, The Enrichment Center is hosting 40 accessible events celebrating 40 years of supporting IDD individuals in the local community.
