Supported Employment
The Enrichment Center’s Employment Gateway
The Enrichment Center’s Employment program is part of a nationwide Vocational Rehabilitation network of services that help adults with disabilities get and keep jobs. An employment specialist is paired with, trains and follows up with a dependable, hardworking adult with a disability, allowing individuals with disabilities the opportunity to prove they are dependable employees. Our program allows individuals to become productive, taxpaying citizens in our community.
What is an Employment Specialist?
Employment Specialists work with individuals with developmental and physical disabilities. The NC Department of Vocational Rehabilitation refers persons with disabilities to The Enrichment Center’s Employment program. A meeting is held with the Employment Specialist and the Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor, where goals, skills and needs of the individual are discussed to ensure success on the job. The job coach researches job openings along with the individual and aid’s the individual in completing employment applications when necessary as well as arranging interviews and job sampling with potential employers. Once offered a job the employment specialist educates and supports the individual and the employer until the individual is able to work successful and independent. The Employment Specialist can then follow up with the employer twice a month, to ensure favorable outcomes.
