that demonstrate campaign excellence and community commitment. Organizations and
companies were judged on a variety of criteria outlined in the Spirit of North Carolina
Standards of Excellence including leadership giving, volunteerism, employee
participation and giving levels, year-round education, corporate support, incentive
programs, and campaign rallies just to name a few.The Spirit Committee judged more
that 70 outstanding submissions from top companies, organizations, governmental
entities, healthcare and educational institutions, as well as businesses-large and small.
Awards will be presented to 32 companies and/or organizations during the United Way

People’s Biennial

Enrichment Center artists Raymond Mariani and Jonathan Lindsay were two of the
36 artists from across the United States selected for the People’s Biennial, a national traveling
exhibition comprised of remarkable, under-appreciated work by people who are making art
outside the MFA programs and major galleries and museums. The exhibition will be on display
2010-2012 in five venues that lie outside the mainstream of art centers like New York and Los
Angeles but in areas where art nonetheless thrives. The Southeastern Center for Contemporary
Art in Winston-Salem hosted the exhibition in 2011.

Raymond was one of six of the exhibition’s artists to be chosen for a solo exhibition in
the People’s Gallery, a one-year gallery project in San Francisco, as an extension of the People’s
Biennial. The People’s Gallery functioned as a platform to look in depth into the work of these
six artists and give them the opportunity to develop a solo exhibition under fully professional
conditions. Raymond’s show was on display May 11-June 18, 2011.
